Govt. to upgrade state hospitals

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry will refurbish and modernize all state hospitals at a cost of Rs.2, 500 million this year.

All state hospitals, including those belonging to Provincial Councils will be refurbished and modernized under this project, reported Daily News.

The Treasury has allocated funds for this programme to supply modern medical laboratories, medical equipment and other facilities to the hospitals.

Hospitals belonging to Provincial Councils which do not have funds to be upgraded will get financial assistance from INGOs and other foreign organizations.

The Ministry has taken over several estate hospitals to continue to ensure a better healthcare service to the estate sector.
