HDFC expands in N & E

The Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) will open four branches in the Northern and Eastern provinces recognizing the huge potential in housing in those areas.

Three branches will be established in Jaffna, Mannar and Trincomalee within this year while one in Vavuniya in February.

This is in keeping with the Government development policy concerning the North and East, to cater to the growing housing needs of the two provinces, said Housing Development Finance Corporation Chief Executive Officer Suresh Amerasekara, reported Daily News.

We want to re-introduce a housing loan scheme in February to capture the niche market according to its strength. This scheme will be an efficient mechanism in attracting new customers, he said.

The HDFC introduced a financial term in Tamil - Arumbu to attract Tamil population. This is the first time that such a term in Tamil was introduced by the HDFC, the report said.

The HDFC has mobilized Rs.1.4 billion funds last year in meeting the housing financing requirements in the country, the report further said.
