Motor Traffic Department streamlined

 

The Motor Traffic Department is increasing its' revenue speedily with the system being streamlined for the convenience of all recipients.

The new system avoids inordinate delay in dealing with the recipients and that had resulted in the increase in revenue.

The revenue earned in 2009 recorded a remarkable increase of Rs.150.9 million when compared to the figure over the previous year, the Motor Traffic Department revealed.

Statistics indicated that the total revenue earned by the Department in 2009 stood at Rs.2214 million. The Department collected Rs.211.6 million from ‘luxury’ and ’semi-luxury’ taxes last year. It also earned Rs.28.4 million from sales taxes collected through register and transfer of vehicles and Rs.1974 million from other levies.

The Department expects to increase its’ revenue further this year, Department sources said.
