Lahugala and Kumana re-open to the public

 

The Lahugala National Park and the Kumana Birds Sanctuary are being reopened for the public following the end of the armed conflict and return to normalcy.

Local as well as foreign tourists who had been deprived of visiting place of religious and historic interest in the past due to violence unleashed by the terrorists. Lahugala and Kumana, two of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries were closed down for several years.

These parks were shut down in the past due to terrorist activities and totally barred for the public. However, with the elimination of terrorism, the government has decided to reopen these National Parks for local as well as foreign tourists.
