WB helps road network

The World Bank has agreed to grant Rs.2400 million to develop the road network covering 100 rural villages in the Badulla District.

This follows successful talks between Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry, World Bank representatives, Treasury officials and the Road Development Ministry.

Accordingly, the Kandegedera-Galauda road which traverses 70 rural villages in Wiyaluwa Electorate and Matitale - Tenna Panguwa Kiriwehera road which covers another 30 villages, will be rehabilitated on priority basis immediately, reported Daily News.

The road rehabilitation of a distance of 28 kilometers along the Kandeketiya-Galauda road will receive Rs.1300 million while the remaining Rs.1100 million will be spent on the Matitale - Kiriwehera road which covers 21 kms. Nearly 20,000 families would benefit from these two road development projects in the District, the report added.
