Deyata Kirula topped two million visitors yesterday

The number of visitors for the Deyata Kirula has topped two million by noon yesterday and is increasing each day.

Organizers are finding it difficult to cope with the crowds waiting outside in queues from morning to come to the exhibition grounds.

Over 1000 stalls are put up for the exhibition and special attractions were the Gama Neguma stalls with their accent on rural development programmes spelling out the main areas of the Mahinda Chintana policies aimed at developing the rural sector with community participation.

Nearly 500,000 people had visited the Gama Neguma stalls during the first two days. The stalls shows the development of the village from the ancient times and the way foreign assistance is utilized for rural development as well as the livelihood programmes for the Internally Displaced Persons with special emphasis on their resettlement process.

The rural radio station Gemi Diriya and Internet connection spanning about 7,000 villages were also among the stalls that were drawing crowds interested in learning about the rural development programmes implemented by the Government.

In addition, stalls from the Armed Forces exhibited the arms and ammunition seized from the LTTE.

The Deyata Kirula Exhibition is open from 9.00 a.m. to midnight daily and will continue till Friday.
