The
Local
Government
and
Provincial
Councils
Ministry
has
begun a
safe
drinking
water
supply
project
to
fulfill
a long
felt
need of
the
people
of
Gurubebila
and
Wewalawewa,
Central
Province
who have
long
suffered
from a
drinking
water
problem
due to
the
adverse
weather
conditions
experienced
throughout
the
year.
Rs.19.4
million
has been
spent on
this
project
implemented
through
the
Samagi
and
Randiya
Dahara
community
based
units of
the two
villages,
reported
Daily
News.
The
people
living
in 594
Grama
Niladhari
Divisions
in the
Central
Province
were
facilitated
by
supplying
safe
drinking
water
under
this
project.
Over
6,000
families
will
benefit,
the
report
added.
This
project
has been
financially
and
technically
assisted
by the
Rural
Water
Supply
and
Sanitary
Division
of the
Urban
Development
and
Sacred
Area
Development
Ministry,
Central
Provincial
Council
and
Dambulla
and
Abanganga
Pradeshiya
Sabhas,
the
report
further
said.
