Over 7000 Swedish Tourists to visit SL

With the Swedish Foreign Ministry’s discontinuation of the negative travel advisory on Sri Lanka and the defeat of terrorism, Sweden’s leading charter tour operators-Apollo, Fritidsresor and Ving will fly to Sri Lanka twice a week during the winter season.

More than 7000 Swedish Charter Tourists have confirmed bookings in the wake of the nation overcoming more than three decades of terrorism. The groups will depart from Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen which involves 12 hours of flying time.

Sri Lanka was a cherished charter destination for Swedish tourists since the 70’s and of recent times came to a halt due to the situation prevalent at the time. The last Swedish charter to Sri Lanka was in the 2005-2006 winter season. Once again the Swedish Tour Operators see Sri Lanka as a calm and tranquil destination where a peaceful holiday can be enjoyed in a salubrious tropical environment.
