A programme has been implemented to provide passports to the people in the North without delay, the Department of Immigration and Emigration said. It added that the programme is being assisted by the Post Master General and the District Secretaries.

Under this programme, people in the North and East can obtain their passports by handing over their applications to the relevant Divisional Secretaries.

The Controller of Immigration and Emigration P.B. Abeykoon said that passport issuing offices will also be set up in the Northern and Eastern provinces soon.
