SL to use satellite information for disaster management

Sri Lanka will hold the 5th Sentinel Asia System Operation Training in Colombo from 22nd to 26th February with technical support from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

The training will focus on effective and timely use of satellite information for disaster management, especially for post-disaster response activities, which is vital to alleviate the suffering of victims during disasters while improving the capacity to process satellite imagery to yield information required for disaster response activities.

The 5th Sentinel Asia System Operation Training to be held in Colombo will be attended by twenty local participants and nineteen overseas participants from the Asia-Pacific region sponsored by JAXA.

The cost of conducting the training will be shared between the Ministry of Disaster Management & Human Rights and JAXA.
