|
|
|
An
International
Monetary
Fund
(IMF)
team is
currently
in Sri
Lanka to
conduct
the
second
review
of the
US$ 2.6
Stand-By
Agreement,
approved
July
last
year.
The IMF
team
will
determine
whether
the
country
has made
adequate
economic
progress
for it
to
recommend
the
release
of the
third
tranche
of the
loan,
IMF
country
representative
Dr.
Koshy
Mathai
said.
The IMF
team is
scheduled
to meet
officials
from the
Central
Bank,
the
Ministry
of
Finance
and
Planning
and
other
government
ministries
and
departments,
as well
as
representatives
of the
private
sector.
Completion
of the
review
would
lead to
disburse
the
third
tranche
of
nearly
US 300
million
under
the
programme,
the IMF
said.
