The Government has taken action to build two technical colleges and three national vocational training centres in the North and East.

The technical colleges will be constructed in Mannar and Kalkudah areas with South Korean assistance.

Vocational training centres are expected to be built in Vavuniya and Serunuvara areas at a cost of Rs.8.8 billion.

With the building of these institutions, the number of technical colleges in the country will increase to 40.

The technical colleges and the vocational training centres are to be set up due to the requirement of skilled labour for massive development projects carried out in those areas.
