Northern libraries get 4mn worth books

 

The National Library and Documentation Services Board launched a programme to develop all libraries in the North that were destroyed due to LTTE terrorism. Under this programme, steps have been taken to distribute books worth Rs.4 million to 110 Public Libraries in the North.

Accordingly, 15 book parcels each worth Rs.10, 000 were distributed to 10 school libraries and 5 forces libraries on 1 March. Book parcels were also distributed to several school libraries and the library of the Medical Faculty, Jaffna University on 2 March.

A programme will also be launched to train librarians for these 110 public libraries in the North, under Uthuru Vasanthaya programme.
