Rajapaksa proposed as next G15 Chairman |

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s name is being considered for the next Chairmanship of the G 15.
According to well informed diplomatic circles, the members of the G 15 comprising 17 countries will decide on the next Chairman to be elected at the next G 15 Summit scheduled to be held in May 2010.
The Group was originally founded by 15 developing countries. While there are now 17 member countries, the original name of the Group has been retained. The member states are Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Jamaica, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
The diplomatic circles stated that the current Chairman from Iran has already indicated that President Rajapaksa is the most suitable leader to hold the Chair of this prestigious Group.
