Houses for Jaffna IDPs

The Government is setting up 680 houses for the displaced in Jaffna District under a special project.

Security Forces Headquarters of Jaffna Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe said that the houses would be handed over to the IDPs before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

The houses were built in their own plots with the confirmation of the Assistant Government Agent that the plot was owned by the IDP.

The Army funded by the philanthropists have built all these houses. The Army provides sand, cement blocks and labour while well wishers provide cement, roofing sheets and timber, the Major General said.
