President
Rajapaksa to be G15 Chairmen at next summit |

The Iranian Ambassador Mahamud Rahimi Gorji yesterday (23 March) officially handed over an invitation from the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for President Mahinda Rajapaksa to attend the Group 15 Summit.
The tentative date for the summit is from May 17 to 18 which Sri Lanka has agreed to. Iran is in contact with other Heads of State to confirm the date.
The Iranian Ambassador handed over the invitation to Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while conveying the appreciation of the Government of Iran for Sri Lanka's contribution to the G 15 process.
President Rajapaksa is to assume the Chairmanship of the 17-member organization at the forthcoming Tehran Summit. The Chairmanship is for a two year term.
Foreign Minister Bogollagama accepting the invitation on behalf of the President complimented Iran for its continued and effective leadership of the group.
The G 15 Summit focuses on cooperation among developing countries in the areas of investment, trade and technology.
