Tourist arrivals in North increased

Around 300,000 local and foreign tourists have arrived in the Northern Province after the A-9 Road was opened improving the income of farmers, businessmen and the self-employed.

Tourism Development Authority sources said the number of tourist arrivals in February reached 57,300.

The demand for vegetables, fruits, handicraft and ornamental goods has also increased.

The Tourism Ministry in collaboration with the Army has also set up a tourist information centre at Hospital Street in Jaffna town to help those visiting the Northern peninsula.
