Emergency extended

The state of emergency has been extended for another month. The Parliament approved the extension of emergency by 53 votes with 58 MPs voting for and 5 MPs voting against. While the JVP and TNA voted against the extension of emergency, the UNP abstained from voting.

The Parliament, which was dissolved two months ago, was reconvened today (April 06) to decide on the extension of the state of emergency.
