The Sri Lankan community in the UK in recognition of the enduring effort by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to end the decades long civil war and bring together the Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim communities has presented the President with an honorary award.

The honorary award was presented at the Hounslow New Year festival, on April 3 by the Sri Lanka Janahanda Foundation President Sri Lal Dias, Chanaka Dissanayake and Dusmantha Wijekoon to the Sri Lanka High Commissioner to UK Justice Nihal Jayasinghe on behalf of the Sri Lankan community in the United Kingdom, Daily News reported.
