Highest preferential votes

 

Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa received a massive 425,100 preferential votes from the Gampaha district, the highest by any candidate at Thursday’s general election.

Mr Wimal Weerawansa of Colombo District (UPFA) polled 280,672 votes. Meanwhile, Mr Namal Rajapaksa by obtaining 147,568 preferential votes recorded the highest majority percentage-wise at the election.

UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe led the party’s preferential votes’ list in the Colombo district by obtaining 230,957 votes while Mr Sarath Fonseka of the DNA received 98,456 votes.
