Major blue chip companies have shown their interest to explore business opportunities in the former war-torn areas in the country through the Jaffna International Trade Fair 2010 which began yesterday (April 18).
Quoting the Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services Director Imran Hassan, Daily News reported that the Jaffna International Trade Fair 2010 will be an ideal platform for large scale companies like John Keells, Aitken Spence, Mackwoods, Jinasena, CIC and Cargills to explore business opportunities in the Jaffna peninsula.
Over 200 foreign companies including 20 Indian companies are participating at this three day trade fair.
These companies are focusing on agriculture, food processing, construction and packaging industries in the Jaffna peninsula. They are seeking joint ventures with local partners to set up their operations in Jaffna.
The main objective of organizing this event is to link the Jaffna community with the business community in Colombo and fast track the industrialization of the Jaffna peninsula, Hassan said.
