Voting concluded in Nawalapitiya and Kamburupitiya

The voter turn out at the General Elections re-poll at the Nawalapitiya and Kumburupitiya electorates has been satisfactory. The voting has concluded at 4.00 P M and the counting will begin later in the evening. The voter turn out is over 55 percent, according to election monitors.

PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi told Daily Mirror online that the turn out had been the same as the April 8 elections in both the electorates and also ruled out any election violence in the first five hours since voting began at 7.00 this morning.

“It has been quite peaceful so far in Nawalapitiya and Kumburupitiya. Our teams are however monitoring the situation,” Hettiarachchi said.
50,107 voters for the re-poll in Nawalapitiya and 977 voters for the Kumburupitiya polling centre have registered.

The results will be announced later in the night. Immediately after the results are declared, the district winners of Kandy district and Trincomalee district will be announced.
