The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) has implemented a special housing loan programme in Jaffna, Vavuniya and Mannar Districts in line with Uthuru Wasanthaya programme.

NHDA expects to implement this loan programme in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu as well within the next few months.

1,000 families will benefit under this programme. Nearly 350 families in Jaffna, Vavuniya and Mannar have been identified for this loan program, quoting NHDA Daily News reported.

Each family will receive Rs.100,000 and all construction work of these houses will be carried out with the active participation of the house holders and their savings. NHDA will give all the technical assistance and it has been targeted to complete the construction work of these houses within six months, the report added.

With the implementation of this housing loan programme in Northern Province the Government has decided to construct a new District office in Mullaitivu for the NHDA spending Rs.12.2 million, the report further said.
