First SL tourism road show in Palestine

The Sri Lankan Tourism Promotion Bureau will hold its first tourism road show at Ramallah city in Palestine today (22 April).

This will be the first time a Sri Lanka trade or tourism delegation is visiting Palestine.

The road show is expected to exchange views regarding issues connected with trade and ways of increasing tourist arrival to and from Palestine. Travel agents from both countries will also discuss ways and means of sending more Christian, Islamic and other tourists from Sri Lanka especially to Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Dead Sea.

Problems Palestinians faced obtaining visas to visit Sri Lanka have been resolved as a diplomatic office in Ramallah now issues visas without delay.

Palestinians now visit Sri Lanka for trade purposes as well. In January this year a trade delegation visited Sri Lanka on the invitation of Sri Lanka Export Development Board. Tea importers from Palestine now visit Sri Lanka to purchase their requirements directly. Ninety percent of the tea consumed in Palestine comes from Sri Lanka.
