The Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait is holding the first ever "Sri Lanka Culture Week" from April 26 to May 2 in Kuwait.
The event, jointly hosted by the Kuwait National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), will showcase presentations of Sri Lankan traditions, dance and art.
First off, a 28-member cultural troupe consisting Chandana Wickramasinghe and the Dancers' Guild will perform 'Sri Lak Rangana,' a locally renowned historical and contemporary dance fusion, which will be displayed daily throughout the week.
On the second day, a handicraft exhibition will kick off parallel to the whole event featuring Sri Lankan handmade products, bronze items, masks, gems, jewellery and other ornaments.
A food festival will be held on the third day at the Crown Plaza Hotel which will introduce Sri Lankan cuisine to those willing to indulge their senses.
On 1 May, a presentation on 'Sri Lankan Culture, Heritage and Sri Lanka-Kuwait Relations' will be held at the embassy.
A unique presentation entitled "Batik, Lifestyles and Role of Sri Lankan Women" will be delivered to an all-woman audience.
