President warmly received by Bhutan PM |

President Mahinda Rajapaksa was warmly received by the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Jigmi Y. Thinley on his arrival at the Paro International Airport in Bhutan to attend the 16th Summit of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
President Rajapaksa was accorded a guard of honour by the Bhutan military and was later conducted to the saluting podium by the Chief of Protocol.
Later the President and the entourage left for Thimphu in ceremonial Motorcade. Thousands of school children gathered by the sides waving flags and saluting the President and the Sri Lankan delegation.
President Rajapaksa is scheduled to hold talks with the Prime Minister of Bhutan this afternoon and will later make a visit to a folk museum in Thimphu.
Eight state leaders of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will participate at the 16th SAARC summit.
President Rajapaksa was accompanied by First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, President’s Coordinating Secretary- Sajin Vass Gunawardena and Attorney General Mohan Peiris.
