Pakistan studies anti-insurgency ops of SL Army

A delegation of senior military officers of Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force from the National Defence University of Pakistan was in the island on a study tour.

The Pakistani military team headed by Air Commodore Nadeem Anjum
of Pakistan Air Force visited the island to learn about the anti-insurgency operations conducted by the Sri Lankan Army against the LTTE, reported news.lk.

The Pakistani delegation held talks with Defence Secretary Gotabaya
Rajapaksa and discussed the security challenges in both countries.

The delegation also met Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya and discussed on bilateral interests and explored possibilities of further promoting healthy relations between Sri Lanka Army and Pakistan Defence Services.

Pakistan is waging a war-on-terror against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Suicide attacks by these Islamic extremists are commonly adopted.

The Pakistani military delegation’s six-day visit to Sri Lanka concluded on May 01.
