The Killinochchi District Court opened by Civil Appellate Judge J. Viswanathan was defunct for the past three decades since the area was under the grip of the LTTE.

Staffers for the Killinochchi Court were transferred from Jaffna and the Chavakachcheri Courts from the beginning of this month.

The today's Court sessions will begin in a temporary building. However, steps have been taken to construct a new Court house building with assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
