Weli Oya irrigation development accelerated

 
Irrigation and Water Resources Management Ministry has taken action to develop irrigation in the Weli Oya Colony, devastated by terrorist activities.

The initial steps have already been taken to accelerate the
reconstruction of the irrigation network which is in progress from
Weli Oya in Padaviya up to Nayaru, which is named as the Mahaweli “L Zone”.

The purpose is to improve the living standards of the farmer families
in the area. The government’s main intention is to properly implement
the Kimbul Oya irrigation scheme, consolidate the land ownership after resettling people who had evacuated the area.

The Government will also develop the roads in Mullaitivu via Padaviya and organize the irrigation plan within the “L Zone”.
