President Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed Minister Douglas Devananda and Governor of Nothern Province, Maj Gen G A Chandrasiri as co-chairmen of the Jaffna District Coordinating Committee. The Committee will oversee all the development activities of the state sector and private sector agencies in the province.

The Committee has been entrusted with the task of overall supervision of the development projects in Jaffna province to ensure their smooth implementation.
