Jaffna Grand Mosque reopens after 20 yrs

The Jaffna Grand Mosque was reopened for the Muslim community yesterday (1 June) after 20 years.

The Dutch-built mosque, which dates from 1713, was abandoned in 1990 as the separatist LTTE drove Muslims away from the Northern Province .

According to Ucan News website, the May 28 re-opening ceremony was attended by 50 other religious officials from the North and East.
