More funds from ADB

 

The Asian Development Bank has provided US $ 212.8 million (Rs.24 billion) for the implementation of three development projects inclusive of emergency project for conflict affected regions in the country.

The Fiscal Management Efficiency Project is to be implemented at a cost of US$ 60 million of which the Government provides US $ 10 million, official sources said.

The main aim of the project is to enhance the Government’s fiscal space and efficiency in the public resource management system.

The ADB will also provide US$ 150 million for Conflict Affected Region Emergency Project and US$ 12.8 million Supplementary Financial Assistance for North East Community Restoration and Development Project II. The project is aimed to rehabilitate and reconstruct essential infrastructure in conflict affected areas in order to improve the livelihood conditions and sustainable livelihood prospect of the affected population.

The total investment cost of the North East Community Restoration and Development Project II is US$ 16.6 mn of which US$ 3.8 mn will be financed by the Government.

The ADB provides US$ 12.8 mn as a concessional loan. The loan funds will be utilized to improve the living conditions of the people in the conflict affected areas in the North & East by restoring basic social infrastructure, community and public services and livelihoods.

The activities funded under the project include reconstruction of hospitals, schools, agriculture related services, rural electrification, institutional infrastructure, rural roads and irrigation infrastructure.
