Entrepreneurs coming forward to pay their due taxes voluntarily shows clearly their wish to cooperate with the government to implement development programs and the action endorses the government policies.
No official pressure or legal implication whatsoever exerted to pay the taxes.
The revenue which constitutes income tax, economic service tax and turnover tax collected during the first four months of this year which exceeds 246% reflects a substantial increase in comparison to the corresponding period in 2009 which was only Rs. 17.05 million.
Industries such as handicrafts, garments, leather products and fisheries had mushroomed length and breadth of the Peninsula and the massive inflow of the local and foreign visitors and tourists had been a big boost for the improvement.
