President Mahinda Rajapaksa assured Tamil Nadu MPs that the resettlement of IDPs is carried out speedily and systematically. He stressed that resettlement areas are provided with health, education, roads and electricity facilities ensuring that all basic necessities for resettled IDPs are met.
| The President pointed this out at a meeting with Tamil Nadu MPs in New Delhi yesterday [09 June]. The delegation comprised MPs from DMK and the Congress party. He added that all communities in Sri Lanka are his people and it is his responsibility to provide an environment with equal opportunities. He reiterated that decisions favourable to all communities will be made.

President Rajapaksa also stated that with India's assistance, the housing project in the North will be speedily implemented.
The President invited Tamil Nadu MPs to visit the Northern parts of Sri Lanka and witness the enhanced livelihoods of people and the progress achieved in the region within a very short period since the elimination of terrorism.
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi and former Union Minister, Mani Shankar Aiyar included the delegation.
