Akashi to arrive in Sri Lanka

 

Mr. Yasushi Akashi, Representative of the Government of Japan for Peace-Building, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sri Lanka, will visit Sri Lanka from June 15 (Tue) to 20.

During his stay in Sri Lanka, he will meet with government officials and representatives of the ruling and opposition parties, and call for early resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) as well as a swift progress in the political processes for national reconciliation towards the establishment of lasting peace.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Colombo he is also scheduled to visit resettlement villages for IDPs and attend ceremonies associated with Japan assisted projects for IDPs in the North.

For Mr. Akashi, this will be the 20th visit to Sri Lanka
