The Nation marked the Victory Day today. The three armed forces commemorated the first anniversary of the victory over LTTE terrorists with a spectacular parade at Galle Face Green, Colombo. The event at Galle Face featured breathtaking displays by the three armed forces including a show of military action during the final phase of the humanitarian operation in the Vanni during last May.

Thousands of proud members of various regiments of the Army, navy and Air Force as well as the Police and Civil Defence Corp took part in the parade that also included heavy military machinery, naval craft and fighter jets.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament, ministers, members of parliament, diplomats, service chiefs and a large number of distinguished guests and thousands of people watched the spectacular display.
