Knowledgeable, patriotic future generation to face new world challenges - President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that the nation needs a knowledgeable generation who love the motherland, to face new world challenges.

The President presenting awards to the winners of the Mother Sri Lanka All Island Schools Competition on Saturday (19 June) at the Temple Trees further pointed out that the society needs to build a future generation who fulfil their obligations towards motherland.

The Mother Sri Lanka program, an initiative of President Rajapaksa, aims to develop togetherness and solidarity in Sri Lanka among its people.

The competition is aimed at inspiring children to participate in the development of the country, to raise confidence that they can make a difference and to motivate them to play a proactive role in the era of development of the country.

"Yesterday the Nation marked the Victory Day. Today there is a country with freedom to all children as well as an environment to study freely', the President stated and emphasized that these children must reap the benefits of education and serve their motherland to make it the Wonder of Asia.
