The Presidential Task Force set up to control Dengue had taken vital decisions during its first progress review meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat recently.
Implementing the Prevention on Mosquito Breeding Act as strictly as possibly is one of the key decisions taken by the Task Force, reported Daily News.
According to a Health Ministry’s spokesman, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena had pointed out that certain parts of the Act are not strict enough to control Dengue.
He pointed out that it takes about one month to punish a person who keeps mosquito breeding sites within his property but it takes only one week to breed dengue mosquito in that mosquito breeding site.
