France, Sri Lanka sign two contracts |

France and Sri Lanka signed two contracts on the rehabilitation and extension of the Kantale Treatment Plant and the electro-mechanical equipments for the new pumping facilities for the Trincomalee Water project.
The two contracts were signed and undertaken by the leading French building and civil engineering company, “VINCI Construction Grands Projects” under the RPE financing.
The scope of the work includes the rehabilitation of the existing scheme and the construction of infrastructures which contains 12 MGD supply capacity and allows to supply water for more than 300 000 inhabitants and the project costs Rs1.8 billion.
The French Government contributed its support to develop the water supply system of the Greater Trincomalee which was severely affected by the Tsunami Disaster in 2004.
Financing arrangements were implemented by the French Development Agency (AFD) at a value of Euro 10.35 million and Euro 12.5 million by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment in France under the RPE (Réserve Pays Emergents) financial facility.
