The Vavuniya and Kilinochchi filing stations will be opened on 12th and 13th of this month respectively. Kilinochchi filing station is built at a cost of Rs.8.6 million.

The Government took these measures to fulfil the need of a large number of people travelling through the A-9 road after terrorism was defeated. The need of fuel has risen due to the opening of the A-9 road.

The Petroleum Ministry reconstructed several filling stations from Vavuniya to Elephant Pass, which were destroyed by terrorist activities. Accordingly, Mankulam filling station constructed at a cost of Rs.8.4 million has been reopened.

Construction work is being carried out in the filing stations in Hirunorukandi, Thunikkai and Uyilankulam. The Ministry will also renovate more filling stations destroyed by terrorist activities in the North and will reopen them for the public in the near future.
