Trinco Port jetty opened

The jetty in the China harbour of Trincomalee Port, renovated by the Indian Oil Corporation, was opened a short while ago by the Minister of Petroleum Industries Susil Prem Jayantha (August 02).

It has been renovated at a cost of Rs.50 million. The new jetty will help efficiently carry petroleum to the stores in the Trincomalee Port.

Meanwhile, the newly constructed Hambantota Port basin will commence water filling on 15 August. This completes the first phase of the Port built at a cost of US $ 437 million.

The government pays a great deal of attention in developing ports in the island to make Sri Lanka a marine hub of the world.
