The Jathika Saviya- Gama Neguma Programme, conducted by the Economic Development Ministry has completed 8734 island wide development projects for 2010.

Another 3631 projects are due to be completed within the next few months, said Mr. R. A. A. K. Ranawaka, Additional Secretary for Rural Development of the Economic Development Ministry.

These development projects are carried out in 10,863 Grama Seva Divisions in 25 Districts island wide. The Government has allocated Rs.4768.82 million for these projects. The programmes include projects on concreting rural roads, drinking water, irrigation and buildings.

The Gama Neguma Programme initiated under the 'Mahinda Chintana' will develop rural areas completed with all facilities.
