Fulfill the
aspirations of the people - President tells
his legislators |

The ruling party parliamentarians should be committed to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the country with enthusiasm, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing his legislators at the two-day government workshop held in Beruwela.
The President Rajapaksa stressed that the public has placed their enormous confidence on the government's development drive and the ruling party parliamentarians should not betray that trust.
He urged his government members to work together to carry forward the development programs of the government successfully.
President Rajapaksa noted that the views expressed and the proposals presented at the workshop will be highly significant in deciding the future plans for the country's development.
The President said that this two-day educational workshop gave an opportunity to build up the unity and brotherhood between the representatives of the people. The two-day educational workshop also aimed to solicit views and proposals of the participants for formulating future economic policies.
Parliament should be responsible for the administration of the country. The Parliamentarians have the utmost responsibility in managing the economy, better functioning of the legal system and leading the country for a better tomorrow, the President added.
Most of the Members of Parliament of the ruling party attended the workshop. The ruling alliance has a strength of 146 in the 225-member Parliament.
