Grand Night Bazaar opens in Colombo

A grand night spot for shopping and entertainment was opened to the public for the first time on last Friday in Colombo.

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has organized the event under the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to create an environment for people to move freely and enjoy.

The move also aims to attract tourists to the city as Colombo is becoming the busiest town with influx of tourists and travelers after the war ended last year.

The Night Bazaar include all facilities and amusements for children including a play area, music, shops, video walk, parking spaces, police post, etc. Visitors can shop at over 40 shops while dining at food courts from Colombo's star hotels.

CMC Special Commissioner Omar Kamil said the city plans to host the special weekends once or twice in a month depending on the response from this event at Greenpath.
