Management students of the University of Kelaniya won the gold in the inaugural MTI Start-UP Venture Competition. Students from Kelaniya University won the medal in the final for their KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) venture that offers back-office legal services for clients from the western hemisphere.
John Keells Capital with a diagnostic health centre venture was the first runners-up and Team Zion with a carbon credit business proposition finished as second runners-up.
In the final, teams were given 25 minutes to propose their business plan to a panel of judges.
MTI Start-Up Venture Competition is the first of a kind in Asia, where teams from universities and business schools and purpose-assembled teams battle it out to develop a new business venture in Sri Lanka.
