President Mahinda Rajapaksa laid the foundation stone for the new secretariat complex of the Ministry of Highways in Battaramulla a short while ago.

The proposed complex, financially assisted by the Asian Development Bank will be constructed in two phases. The Ministry of Highways and Highways Development, and Road Development Authority will be relocated at the Secretariat upon its completion. The complex will also comprise facilities including a gymnasium, a day care center, an auditorium with seating capacity for 200 and restaurants.

This project with an estimated cost of Rs.1100 million is scheduled to be completed within a year.
