SL to bid for Commonwealth Games 2018

 
The Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to bid for the Commonwealth Games – 2018 in Sri Lanka.

In the year 2010 the competition was held in India. In 2014 it will be held in England.

The competition will be centralized in Hambantota should Sri Lanka is granted approval to hold the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games is a multinational, multi-sport event which features competitions involving thousands of elite athletes from members of the Commonwealth of Nations. Organised every four years, they are the third-largest multi-sport event in the world, after the Summer Olympic Games and the Asian Games.
