Houses distributed to war heroes’ families

The second phase of the "Api Wenuwen Api" housing project for war heroes was completed recently with the construction of twenty seven houses at Thorayaya, Kurunegala.

The houses were handed over to the war heroes and their families by President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (Sep.05).

During the ceremony, packs of school items were also distributed among the school children of the war heroes' families.

The Ministry of Defence launched the "Api Wenuwen Api" housing project to construct 700 housing units island-wide for the war heroes. Completing its first phase, 25 houses built at Senarathgama, Kandy were handed over to the war heroes last July.

The objective of the "Api Wenuwen Api" project is to uplift the living standards of families of war heroes.
