The “Quasimodo Fair”, held annually in Argentan in the North of France, has invited Sri Lanka to be the Guest-of-Honour at this national trade and fun fair to be held in April 2011.
The organizers of the fair have selected Sri Lanka to be featured at the fair which has been in existence for the past ninety years. Preparations are currently underway to ensure the presence and representation of a vast array of institutions and producers of Sri Lankan products in France, stated the Embassy of Sri Lanka in France.
During discussions at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris on 25 September, between the Ambassador and the Organizers, Mr. Jean-Pierre Aury, President of the Organizing Committee, said they looked forward to the presence and participation of Sri Lanka and would ensure a successful fair as it has been the case in the past.
Ambassador Lionel Fernando thanked the Organizers for having selected Sri Lanka and said it was reflective of the good ties that exist between Sri Lanka and France and would be an excellent opportunity for Sri Lanka to be showcased among the French community in the North of the country.
He thanked the Organizers on behalf of the Government and people of Sri Lanka for the opportunity provided and noted that the fair would further enhance the image of the country.
The Organizers also met with several stall holders during their stay in Paris and finalized the requirements and logistics needed for an event of this magnitude.
The three-day fair which is due to draw several thousands, as in the past, will showcase Sri Lankan products, culture and cuisine among other areas.
In the past, countries such as Hungary, Germany and Morocco have been featured at this annual event.
