The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) is to expand its network to Jaffna and Bangladesh.
SLIIT plans to set up a centre in Bangladesh by the year 2013. “Bangladesh serves as an ideal backdrop for expansion, especially for Business and IT-related fields. Our vision is to be among the top 10 universities in the South Asian region within the next decade,” SLIIT President and CEO, Prof Lalith Gamage said.
Meanwhile, preliminary work is underway to enroll students for SLIIT undergraduate degree programs in Sri Lanka from Bangladesh for the 2010/2011 intake. Plans are also underway to enroll international students from other countries especially from South Asia for SLIIT undergraduate degree programs.
SLIIT will also venture to Jaffna. The Jaffna centre is already set up and will be opened to students to join the new intake by 22nd November 2010. Students can now join the newly established centre in Jaffna and study the first year of the degree program at this centre.
Well-qualified lecturers, mainly from Jaffna, will facilitate student learning at the campus, and students will have the option of transferring to one of SLIIT’s many branches or foreign universities to complete the final two years of their degree, SLIIT said.
